Dyfatty Flats

Brian and Stuart first met when studying politics at Swansea College and soon after started jamming together, (comprising mainly of New York Dolls, Stooges and Troggs covers). Alan and Kevin later came along on bass and drums respectively, and finally a singer was recruited in the shape of Ray Jones (a.k.a, Ray Rockerfella.). Although, after certain minor misdemeanours prevented Jones from appearing, Graham Larkbey was roped-in as vocalist for many of their early gigs

They aquired their name when Ray was asked the name of the group for an article, and, because the group were in the middle of a name-change, said the first thing that came into his head, which was Dyfatty Flats.
Despite being named after a hi-rise block, they drew large audiences throughout their life span due in no small measure to Rockefella’s frenetic performance as front man and were overwhelmingly voted best group of 1978 in the anarchist magazine ‘Alarm!’, .

Stuart later took over from Graham Larkbey as the local promoter on the pub scene, at venues such as the The Hafod Inn and Dublin Arms and later, at The White Swan in High Street, and the Heathcliffe Club in Mount Pleasant.
