Pay Day

Originally The Pay Day, they first formed in 1978 when Steve Griff bought a guitar from a mate in Sketty Park and fellow schoolmate Nick Hook bought a drum kit after seeing an advert in The Evening Post. They joined up with Jeff Wheway ( known to all, as Dap ),As Steve Griff recalls, "Dap had a bass Guitar, an extrovert personality and an extensive record collection." Richard (Sid) Griffiths was cajoled into joining to complete the line-up on guitar duties. However, at first things didn't sound quite right so after a bit of re-organising Griff became the bass player and Dap became the "front man."

They played a number of gigs, including at Olchfa, The Sandy Lane Festivals, The Coach House, and Townhill College (where they supported the Venom at their boisterous last gig). However, after about a year or so the band split up.-  then, some time later, they reformed again but this time with new vocalist Huw Morgan alongside Nick and Steve, with Sid eventually returning on guitar.

Steve Griff left the band and his replacement was ex Autonome, Greg Evans, and soon after they changed their name.

Pseudo Sadists

"Pseudo Sadists - punk band from Swansea (early 80s). Appeared on A Country Fit For Heroes Vol.1 LP with a song called "Power Schemes" and contributed another called "War Games" to the Bullshit Detector Vol.2 comp. Iva was top punk in Swansea - used to walk around with a goat on a string! Later moved to London and became famous as the 'acid priest': he wore a vicar's collar and was the main source of LSD and cocaine for the entire London music scene. Had a motorbike with the numberplate 'LSD 64'! Did some time in the Scrubs, not surprisingly. "
